EmpowerHER Wellness: The Struggle Is Real - Nurturing Mental Health for Women Entrepreneurs.

In the often fast-paced world of entrepreneurship, women often find themselves juggling various responsibilities, leading to burnout and impact upon our mental health.. It's crucial for women entrepreneurs and professionals to prioritize their well-being.


According to a n October 2023 digital survey study conducted on LinkedIn with data being gathered from startup founders who run companies around the globe : 72 percent of founders struggle with mental health, 37 percent suffer from anxiety and 36 percent experience burnout. The importance of mental health and well-being can not be overstated , which is why its crucial for women entrepreneurs and professionals to find effective and nurturing their mental health.


My personal experience managing and completing doctoral school ,full-time employment and managing a social life taught me the importance of making my mental health and wellness a top priority. Those lessons are still being incorporated into my life today, while working to build my brands, working full-time and managing a personal life: its a balance ,but with the right mindset and strategies every women entrepreneur and professional can effective manage their own mental health and combat burnout. Here are some effective strategies to incorporate into your life daily


  1. PRIORITIZE YOUR SELF- CARE

  • Schedule regular breaks to recharge

  • Practice self-compassion and celebrate achievements, big or small.

  • Engage in activities that bring joy and relaxation.

2. ESTABLISH BOUNDARIES


  • Set clear work-life boundaries.

  • Learn to say no when necessary to avoid overcommitment.

  • Communicate expectations with colleagues and clients.



3. FOSTER A SUPPORTIVE NETWORK

  • Connect with other women entrepreneurs for mutual support.

  • Seek mentorship or join women-centric professional groups.

  • Share experiences and challenges to create a sense of community.




4. INCORPORATE MINDFULNESS PRACTICES

  • Practice deep-breathing exercise to reduce stress.

  • Try meditation to enhance focus and clarity.

  • Integrate mindful moments throughout the day .

Here is a breathing technique, I learned last year, that helps with mindfulness - Try It!

  • The 4-7-8 technique: Inhale quietly through your nose for a count of 4, hold your breath for a count of 7, and exhale audibly through your mouth for a count of 8. Repeat for a few cycles to promote relaxation.


5. PHYSICAL ACTIVITY and HEALTHY HABITS



  • Engage in regular exercise to boost mood and energy .

  • Maintain a balanced diet for sustained mental and physical health.

  • Ensure sufficient sleep for overall well-being.


Embracing these practices, sharing your journey and building a community where fellow women entrepreneurs not only conquer professional challenges , but also prioritize their mental well-being is crucial. Building a community where supportive networks and belonging can be fostered is what creates a culture of empowerment and resilience.
